The starting page of your homepage is usually named "index.htm". When calling up the internet address (e.g. "http://www.MeinName.de") your web server always looks for this file in the main directory of your web space. Provided that PHP support is included in your Webspace bundle your starting page can also be named "index.php". The starting page must be contained in each sub directory so the file can be called up without an explicit request. If you want to call up the address "http://www.MyName.com/pictures/" directly for instance an "index.htm" has to be stored in this directory serving as the starting page. The correct path actually would be "http://www.MyName.de/pictures/index.htm". |
